Where it gets interesting
Ipé is one of the hardest woods in the world. While the tree itself is large, defect-free veneer sections are small. The color is naturally very dark, ranging from golden brown to brown-black with subtle striping. Ipé is used in many applications, but its durability makes it a popular choice for yacht and aircraft interiors.
