Where it gets interesting
At first glance, paldao resembles American black walnut. Found in Indonesia and the Philippines, this large tree develops dramatic buttressed trunks once believed by remote tribes to hold spirits. The veneer has a umber-brown background with decorative dark striping. Flat cut shows a cathedral pattern, while quarter cut produces strong stripe contrast and occasional figure.
